O-1A evidence for founders: what the criteria look like off the academic track

The eight O-1A criteria are the same for everyone, but the evidence patterns differ by career track. Academic researchers lean on scholarly articles and citations; founders more often assemble press coverage, adoption metrics for products they built, critical-role documentation for their own companies, and judging work such as hackathon juries, accelerator selection committees, or peer review.

Critical role for a distinguished organization can include your own startup — the evidence questions are the organization's standing (funding, backers, customers) and whether the role was genuinely critical to it.
